The CAS KLOs

It may be confusing, but there is a difference between the CAS KLOs and the IB learner profiles. The IB learner profiles are what you need to demonstrate, but the KLOs are the outcomes of your demonstrations.

Reminder that you must have achieved all the KLOs at least once by the time you finish your IB diploma. You do not need to have equal amounts of each KLO but you have to have done all of them.

it is depth of the KLO that is important. It is rare that more than 2 KLOs will be achieved in an experience.

1. Identify strengths and develop areas for growth

See yourself as an individual with various abilities and skills with area for growth

2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of one you already do. Show development of new skills or increased expertise in a pre-existing skill.

3. Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Articulate the CAS stages with detail, demonstrating your journey to actually doing your experience.

4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement with CAS experiences.

5. Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively

Identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the benefits and challenges of collaborating.

6. Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Identify and demonstrate an understanding of global issues, make responsible decisions and take appropriate action in response to the issues either locally, nationally or internationally.

7. Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Show awareness of the consequences of choices and actions in planning and carrying out CAS.
